NYSC and Wema Bank Join Forces To Launch National Youth Empowerment Program
National Youth Empowerment Program: The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and Wema Bank, Nigeria’s most innovative bank and the creator of Africa’s first fully digital bank, ALAT, have partnered to launch the NYSC-ALAT Accelerator Programme, a strategic partnership that aims to facilitate young Nigerians’ profitable and easy entry into the workforce through the NYSC scheme. This is a historic step towards empowering Nigerian youths and promoting economic growth.
The goal of the NYSC-ALAT Accelerator Program is to provide youth enrolled in the NYSC with tools for career development, job acquisition, and skill acquisition. By lowering unemployment and underemployment rates, this program will boost economic growth and national development. At the signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Abuja, Nigeria, this cooperation was formally announced.
In partnership with Microsoft, the innovative program will offer cutting-edge digital training in subjects like design thinking, artificial intelligence, programming languages, and content creation, as well as grants and funding to enable NYSC members to create stable sources of income. In addition to receiving loans for all participants, participants will have access to mentorship opportunities and take part in a business plan competition that will not only assist them in creating the ideal company plan but also significantly reward the best ideas that promote entrepreneurship and job creation.
Wema Bank’s Executive Director of Retail and Digital, Mr. Tunde Mabawonku, emphasized the key components of the innovative collaboration in his speech.
“With 79 years of experience in financial inclusion, Wema Bank is committed to empowering people through innovation. Through the integration of digital technology into daily life and the promotion of economic growth, this cooperation with NYSC provides a platform for the growth and development of young people in Nigeria. “Our aim is to equip young individuals with capabilities that will help them through their service year as well as affecting their future career and adult lives,” he said.
In the capacity of the NYSC Director-General, Mr. Ayodele Folorunsho Omotade thanked Wema Bank for its backing and dedication to the initiative.
