The fact that many mobile subscribers are afraid of losing their lines is no longer news. This is because, as of February 28, 2024, all Nigerian telecom subscribers who have not linked their National Identity Number (NIN) to their SIM cards will have their SIM cards blocked by the Federal Government.
You don’t need to worry, though, if you use Airtel and haven’t yet linked your phone number to your NIN because you can do this all by yourself.
There are four independent approaches to accomplish this. Whichever method you decide to choose, you can easily follow the step-by-step instructions to assist you through the procedure.
USSD Code: Recharging USSD airtime daily is just as simple and quick with this option. Just adhere to these three guidelines.
Dial 3463NIN121097# if you to get your (Virtual NIN Number)
After dialing *996#, you will be prompted to enter the VNIN that you got.
A notification informing you that you will get a confirmation SMS will be sent to you.
It’s also important to remember that you may quickly verify your NIN status by dialing *996#, find out which numbers are currently linked to your NIN, and link your NIN to your phone number.
Alternatively, you can link your NIN by performing these steps on the Airtel website:
All you have to do is go to https://www.airtel.com.ng/nin/, the Airtel NIN connecting gateway.
The following prompt will be sent to you.
Enter your email address and phone number for Airtel.
Enter the OTP you received on your phone by clicking “Send OTP.”
After entering your 11-digit NIN, press the “Submit” button.
A message of confirmation will be sent to you.
Making use of the MyAirtel app:
If the MyAirtel app isn’t already on your phone, download it now.
Launch the app and use your Airtel login information to log in.
Select “Submit ID” by tapping on it.
Enter your 11-digit NIN and adhere to the instructions.
A confirmation message will be sent to you after your NIN has been successfully linked.
The instructions are all meant to relieve you of the burden of having to go to the Airtel office to finish this process. To get help linking your NIN, you can also visit the closest Airtel store or give Airtel Customer Care a call at 111 if, for some reason, none of these ways work.
