Cash Transfer Program Update: Phase 3 of Oyo State Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (OY-CARES) will see the distribution of N10,000 to 3,300 vulnerable households, according to proposals disclosed by the state government of Oyo.
The Cash Transfer Unit’s State Coordinator, Mr. Akintunde Gbadamosi, provided information to the third group of OY-CARES social transfer facilitators from the state’s 33 Local Government areas during a one-day orientation program.
He claims that following facilitator training, beneficiaries—who were chosen from among all 33 LGAs using information from the State Operation Coordinating Unit (SOCU)—will get an N10,000 monthly cash transfer in the third phase of the program.

Various disadvantaged and vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, the physically disabled, chronically ill, urban poor, and widows, are included in the SOCU data. Gbadamosi made it clear that the goal of OY-CARES, a federal emergency operation that the state localizes, is to support state-level budgeted initiatives and interventions.
Additionally, the program targets vulnerable and impoverished households in the agricultural value chain, both new and current, as well as Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) affected by the COVID-19 pandemic’s economic impact.

He said,
Beneficiaries of the social transfer component would get N10,000 per month for a year to support their consumption and lessen stress. The card-based transfer would be paid N20,000 every two months.
Program structure
The coordinator stressed that OY-CARES is being implemented without the creation of any new project implementation frameworks and that it is planned to run for two years (2022–2024), making use of already-existing institutions at the State and Federal Government levels.
Gbadamosi emphasized that 1,755 beneficiaries from 18 LGAs were identified by the Oyo State Government in the first phase and 1,755 recipients from 15 LGAs in the second phase. 3,300 recipients from each of the 33 LGAs are part of the third phase and are administered via Social Transfer (ST) channels on the cash transfer platform.
