Call For Application: Apply for National Girls in ICT Competition 2024
The National Girls in ICT Competition 2024 is a new project of the Federal Government, which is accepting applications from Nigerian girls. The Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy is in charge of this program.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Ministry unveiled this effort, which aims to close the gender gap that currently exists in Nigeria’s ICT industry. The Ministry stated that the government would award scholarships, computers, prizes, and certificates to the competition winners.
In addition, the Ministry mentioned that Nigerian females will be able to improve their technical skills in data analytics, web development, coding, programming, and cybersecurity by taking part in the competition. It further stated that leaders in the sector, government organizations, and educational institutions would all acknowledge and assist the participants.
To improve their learning experience, participants would have the chance to network and learn through seminars, mentoring programs, and networking events.
Gender inclusivity in ICT
The Ministry declared the project, saying,
We are excited to announce the launch of the National Girls in ICT Competition as part of our mission to advance gender inclusion and encourage young girls to lead in the ICT industry. Our objective is to close the gender gap in the field and provide females the same chances to succeed and actively engage.
“We cordially encourage all youthful, aspirational brains to sign up for this revolutionary contest, where female empowerment and cutting-edge technology collide.”
How to participate National Girls in ICT Competition 2024
To participate in this program, interested Nigerian girls can do the following actions:
- Use this registration portal to register for the tournament.
- Form a group and register with your teachers’ help.
- Determine a community issue and create a technologically based remedy.
- To improve your technical skills, take part in a 5-day training session that spans many states.
- Participate in regional competitions to showcase your solution and earn a spot at the national level.
- Participate in a virtual pitching competition and showcase your creative solution to a panel of knowledgeable judges.
- Acquire accolades, awards, and chances for additional training and growth.
Things to be aware Concerning National Girls in ICT Competition 2024
A recent World Economic Forum research claims that even while Nigeria’s digital industry is expanding quickly, relatively few women have the chance to get involved because men still control the majority of the ecosystem.
