2023 Census News: The National Population Commission (NPC), in preparation for the 2023 population and housing census, has charged working media in Yobe State with providing successful coverage before and throughout the exercise.
The NPC delivered the instruction on effective reporting on Tuesday at a one-day state-level capacity-building workshop for media in the state through its Federal Commissioner for Yobe State, Mai Aliyu Muhammad.
According to the Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission, the workshop is a component of the Commission’s planning and a number of programs aimed at ensuring the success of the 2023 census.

He emphasized that media professionals must use their skills both before and during the census since they will have a greater impact on its success.
This, he said, may be accomplished by helping the commission to increase public awareness of the necessity and advantages of the exercise for the growth of the state and the nation at large.
As the real census draws near, the Commission will demand that the media do more to inform the public because this year’s census will be different from prior ones because it will be digital.
According to the United Nations’ guidelines, it will be carried out using current technology and equipment, he said.
