Today’s News 1 February 2024: NITDA New Plan With The Renewed Hope Agenda

NITDA: As part of the current administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the National Information Technology Development Agency aims to empower Nigerians through technology and transform the country’s economy. To this end, its Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, has praised Tech4Dev’s DigitalForAllChallenge 2.0 and unveiled the Agency’s plans to use the initiative to establish “Tech Clubs” throughout the nation.

This was revealed by Inuwa during her keynote speech during the initiative’s launch for the skilling competition.

“Our collective mission is clear as we launch this program as a supportive effort toward reaching a 70% online literacy rate for Nigerians by 2027,” he declared.

“The DigitalForAll Program is a creative program that could have a big impact on the future of our nation.
We also plan to utilize our Digital Nigeria platform for the program’s final competition,” stated Inuwa.

The DG took use of the occasion to thoroughly describe each of the eight Pillars in the Agency’s revised Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP 2.0), which he listed as follows: Encourage Digital Literacy and Develop Talents The following keystones will help NITDA address the strategic challenges identified in achieving its mandates, mission, and values:

Build a robust ecosystem for technology research; strengthen the legal and policy framework; promote inclusive access to digital infrastructure and services; strengthen cybersecurity and enhance digital trust; nurture an innovative and entrepreneurial ecosystem; establish cooperative relationships and strategic alliances; foster a dynamic workplace culture and nimble staff.

Inuwa claims that the competition is a well-planned initiative to give every Nigerian citizen the knowledge and abilities required to thrive in the digital age. She notes that the document will be revealed in the first quarter of 2024.

“Let us keep in mind that, as we set out on this journey, digital literacy is about enabling people to realize their full potential, not just about imparting skills.” “This program is poised to achieve the goals of fostering innovation, growth opportunities, and ensuring that no one is left behind in the rapidly evolving digital world.”

The DigitalForAll Initiative’s “key objectives” are dependent upon “inclusive digital literacy, accessible learning platforms, public-private partnerships, measurable impact, and awards,” according to the DG.

Therefore, cooperation with governmental organizations, academic institutions, business executives, and communities is essential to our success.

The Director-General promised, “Together, we will create a ripple effect of change that transcends barriers, bringing digital literacy to the forefront of our national development.”

Inuwa encouraged all stakeholders to take on the challenge with zeal, resolve, and a common goal of creating a digitally inclusive Nigeria, while also expressing gratitude to all of the sponsors, partners, and individuals who have worked together to make the “DigitalForAll Initiative” a reality.

“We pledge to create a future in which digital empowerment is limitless and every Nigerian is prepared to prosper in the digital era,” Inuwa said in closing.

Earlier, Joel Ogunsola, the founder of Tech4Dev, welcomed attendees and gave an outline of the DigitalForAllChallenge. He also announced that rewards totaling One Hundred and Fifty (150) Million Naira would be awarded in each of the challenge’s several categories.

“Every Nigerian deserves the right to digital literacy and skills for the future of work, and this is what motivates us to believe this.”

“NITDA is making very deliberate efforts to invest in this initiative’s long-term sustainability,” Mr. Ogunsola emphasized.

Ogunsola continued by telling the audience that the main difficulties will be at the state level, regionally, and geopolitically, with the grand finale taking place on the day of the NITDA’s Digital Nigeria International Conference and Exhibition.

The training and competition portions make up the two stages of the challenge. The Founder advocated for beneficiaries to take an assessment following the first to be eligible for the second phase.

Arguably Africa’s largest digital skilling competition, Tech4Dev’s program, in collaboration with NITDA and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, aims to incentivize self-improvement and promote the learning and application of digital skills through competitive rewards.
