NPC News: According To NPC Chairman LGs are left out of the NPC’s demographic survey
NPC News: The National Population Commission has decided not to include six of Borno State’s Due to insecurity at 27 Local Government Areas in the ongoing 2023/2024 Demographic Health and Survey.
This was revealed on Monday at a press conference held in Maiduguri, the state capital, by the commission’s chairman, Nasir Kwara.
He stated that the panel carefully considered security issues before excluding the LGs, Chibok, Magumeri, Abadam, Mobar, Marte, and Guzamala.
Since we cannot jeopardize any of our employees’ lives, they are regarded as flashpoints that call for extensive security planning to transport our people there.
“But, it would affect the state because the excluded LGAs would exploit the nearby communities and LGAs where the exercise is being conducted so that the outcomes there would also apply to them,” he said.

Kwara stated that the NDHS exercise would collect high-quality data on a variety of key indicators, including fertility rates, maternal and child health, childhood mortality, gender-related issues, nutrition, and more. Kwara was represented by Haruna Ibrahim, the NPC Director for the state.
Accordingly, “key stakeholders would use the data to make crucial decisions in addressing citizens’ specific needs, improving health outcomes, and lowering the national burden of disease,” he continued.
He urged the media to spend the next five months dispelling myths about the program that arise from culture and religion and informing the public about the significance of the exercise.
As attested by NDHS Field employees around the state, Kwara expressed his gratitude for the public’s support and the towns’ collaboration.
According to PUNCH Online, the commission showcased the remodeled Akwa Ibom State NPC headquarters building and started the 2023–24 Nigeria Demographic Health Survey.
Kwara gave his word that the NPC would conduct a national population count that was respectable, trustworthy, and legitimate.
He went on to say that the commission would do everything in its power to give its employees a comfortable place to work
