The Public Affairs Department’s Director, Dr. Isiaka Yahaya, provided clarification on the issues raised by the debate over the cost of the actions necessary to prepare for the 2023 Census. He underlined the value of training in his lecture as a means of guaranteeing high-quality data collecting. The training is extensive, lasting at least two weeks, and it involves simulations, practical exercises, and thorough classroom instruction.
Approximately 62,000 facilitators have received training from the National Population Commission. Around 850,000 supervisors and enumerators will then be trained by these facilitators for the Census.
The training costs include a variety of costs, including two weeks of daily training allowances of at least N12,000 per facilitator, transportation costs, venue leases, refreshments, material purchases, and logistical planning for field operations.

The Commission has printed nearly one million copies of training guides designed for various categories of field employees to assist in the training of supervisors and enumerators. These guides are 150–300 pages long.
In addition, the Commission has acquired a wide range of supplies needed for the fieldwork, including biros, chalk, indelible ink, first aid kits, memo pads, call-back cards, and pelican boxes. All state and local government area (LGA) offices of the Commission in Nigeria have received copies of these materials.
