Census New Date: NPC safeguarding resources for new date, NPC commissioner Tinubu
Census New Date NPC Safeguarding Resources:- Prior to the nation’s 2023 Population and Housing Census, the National Population Commission has guaranteed that all assets and resources it has already secured will be protected.
The Population and Housing Census, which had been planned for May 3rd, has been postponed to a date to be set by Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Darlington Okereke, the federal commissioner of the NPC in Ebonyi, stated that the commission is reserving resources to prevent having to restart preparations when a new date is set.
At a breakfast meeting with media executives on Friday in Abakaliki, Okereke provided an update on the progress of the national census preparations.
In addition, he said, “we came together to inform you of the next steps forward in light of the postponement of the conduct by the former President.”
The commissioner said that all census-related preparations, including enumeration area demarcation, pre-tests, and trial counts, were finished.
“We have recruited and trained census field workers, purchased and set up Personal Digital Assistants, established ICT infrastructures and logistical support, and engaged in lobbying and publicity efforts.
“Sustaining and reinforcing the importance of these initiatives to the effective conduct of the 2023 census is the most crucial task before the commission.

This will prevent the country from having to restart its preparations, saving money.
Okereke said, “The Commission has built a strong framework for future censuses.
He also added that the Federal Government would choose the new census date.
The Director of the Commission in Ebonyi, Mrs. Julia Manyike, praised the media for helping to ensure a trustworthy and legitimate census exercise in all states of the federation.
All state stakeholders were urged by Manyike to cooperate and assist one another in order to make the exercise effective.
