Only 12,000 Youths In 6 States To Benefit From International Fund for Agricultural Development
International Fund for Agricultural Development’s Lifestyle Enhancement Family for the Niger Delta (IFAD LIFE-ND) project would help 12,000 youth across six states in Nigeria.
In an effort to help the beneficiaries escape poverty and achieve independence, the organization launched the agribusiness-focused project, known as the “agric value chain,” in collaboration with the Federal Government of Nigeria.
This was revealed yesterday in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State, during the opening of the orientation program for the fifth batch of incubatees in the state’s three senatorial districts by the national project coordinator, Engr. Sanni Abiodun.
Rather than scouring the country for scarce white-collar jobs, the organization, whose main goals are food security, employment, nutrition mainstreaming, climate change, financial inclusivity, and income generation, promised to help incubatees from the six states of Abia, Cross River, Bayelsa, Edo, Delta, and Ondo become self-reliant after obtaining training in their chosen commodity and value chain.
The participants were praised by Abiodun for overcoming obstacles to be selected for Batch Five of the 2000 incubators of the IFAD/Life-ND project in Cross River State.

In order for project beneficiaries to see a turnaround in their enterprises and escape poverty, he urged them to be diligent, disciplined, devoted to their work, and faithful to their duties.
Engineer Moluno Anthony Ndidi, speaking on behalf of the national coordinator for the Cross River South senatorial district, urged project participants in the state to closely follow operational directives in order to improve their financial and social standing.
The national coordinator in Cross River Central, Dr. Clement Uwem, the coordinator for gender and youth at rural institutions, and Mr. Allswell Kelly Akari, the coordinator for the national coordinator in the North, urged beneficiaries to seize the chance to launch themselves as agro-business owners.
The secretary in charge of the ministry, Mr. Bassey Ekpe, on behalf of Johnson Ebokpo Jr., the commissioner for agriculture, crops, and irrigation development for Cross River State, said that the administration of Governor Bassey Otu was prepared to collaborate with organizations on poverty alleviation, particularly in the field of the agriculture value chain.
