According To Commissioner: N750m Trader Money disbursement begins
Trader Money disbursement: The N750 million Lagos Trader Money that was promised to 15,000 traders in the state’s 20 local government areas and 37 local council development zones would reportedly start to be distributed this month, according to the Lagos State Government.
This was said over the weekend during the Lagos Food Systems Champions Sensitization for Market Women at the Mid-level Agro-Produce Hub in Idi-Oro, Mushin, by Commissioner for Agriculture Ms. Abisola Olusanya.
According to The Punch, in December 2023, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced the financial intervention at the Mid-level Agro-Produce Hub’s unveiling at Idi-Oro, in the Mushin area of the state.
The governor declared, “The government has devised a measure for market men and women alike.” The market/trader money is intended to help 15,000 recipients. The government is going to provide each beneficiary N50,000. 200 names will be submitted by each municipal authority.

The agriculture commissioner stated, “The N750m Lagos Trader Money program aimed at empowering 15,000 market men and women throughout 20 areas of local government and 37 local council regions for development in the state will take off this month,” in remarks made to reporters over the weekend.
Olusanya went on to say that the state government would establish more food centers to increase employment prospects for citizens, particularly women.
She continued by saying that expanding the number of food hubs would enable small farms to seize expanding opportunities in the agriculture industry.
She pointed out that creating agri-food centers would improve the state’s food security by boosting the agriculture sector in addition to reducing waste.
Olusanya stated, “The development of agricultural products hubs will also boost the development of agricultural product exports.”
“The goal of establishing agro logistics food hubs is to support the sector’s growth by exploring new markets and improving product quality,” she clarified, adding that the government was collaborating with local government councils to increase packaging capacity.
The commissioner pointed out that in addition to improving agricultural output and farmers’ livelihoods, the proposed Fresh Food Agro-Hubs for Agege and Ajah as well as the Central Food Safety Systems and Transport Hub will be open to the markets.
