Great News Today, January 14, 2024: On NPower News Today and Social Investment Programmes
NPower News Today: A group to audit Tinubu’s social investment initiatives has been established. The formation of a Special Presidential Panel, tasked with conducting a thorough evaluation and reform of the social investment programs halted last month, was approved by President Bola Tinubu on Saturday.
Mr. Wale Edun, the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Finance, will preside over the panel.
The SPP was announced 24 hours after Tinubu halted the National Social Investment Program Agency’s administration of all social investment programs, including the school food program.
“Immediately undertake a comprehensive review and audit of existing financial frameworks and policy guidelines of the social investment programs,” was the directive Tinubu gave the Edun-led panel following the four programs’ six-week suspension.

The President’s Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, signed a statement headed “President Tinubu establishes special presidential panel on social investment programs” that states as much.
“A complete re-engineering of the financial architecture of the programs with detailed modification to procedures guiding the programs’ implementation moving forward,” according to Ngelale, is the aim.
Professor Ali Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, is a member of the SPP, which is made up of ministers representing strategic sectors and will guarantee a multidisciplinary approach to the reform effort. The Chairman of the SPP is the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance.
Additional members include Ministers Abubakar Bagudu of Budget and Economic Planning, Muhammad Idris of Information and National Orientation, Bosun Tijjani of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, and Ayodele Olawande of State for Youth.
According to Tinubu, the annex will “validate the confidence reposed in it by ushering in a new era of operation based on open and accountable governance frameworks, winning back all lost public confidence in these vital programs over the years.”
“Impervious to abuse and incompetence for the exclusive benefit of disadvantaged households across our nation,” he claimed these frameworks will prove.
For the NPower Program, the suspension will only last for six weeks Accourding to President Bola Ahmad Tinubu.
