NCC offers Nigerian students a digital innovation award
NCC offers: The Young Innovative Builders (YIB) program was launched by the Federal government through the National Communication Commission (NCC) to honor Nigerian students enrolled in postsecondary institutions who have created creative solutions while still in school.
All students who have finished their industrial training and, in the process, found solutions to societal problems are eligible to apply for the program.
“This initiative acknowledges the significant contribution that industrial training programs make in offering hands-on experience to support the application of knowledge.”
Concerning the program
The commission stated that the Youth Innovation Bureau (YIB) initiative seeks to identify and honor ideas created by young Nigerians that are in line with the Ministry’s objectives to support the growth of the digital economy.
The initiative will provide laptops to the top 48 creative ideas in each state, as well as tablets to the next 40 best solutions.

Qualification standards
The requirements for qualifying include being enrolled in any postsecondary educational institution in Nigeria, having created or developed a creative tech-enabled solution that uses digital technology to solve real-world issues, and having finished an industrial training program.
November 22, 2023, is when applications are accepted, and they close on December 6, 2023.
How will the applications be examined?
The Ministry, industry professionals, academics, and other stakeholders make up the award’s review committee, which the agency stated uses a conventional grading method. On December 22, 2023, the winners will be revealed via official means.
“Applications will be reviewed by a diverse selection committee using a standard grading system, with representation from academia, industry experts, the Ministry, and other stakeholders,” it says.
