The African Union Digital and Innovation Fellowship Program is a strong 12-month program that aims to identify and deploy highly competent tech innovators from the African continent to parts or organs within the African Union headquarters as resident fellows to understand the system within those units, identify data management challenges within the systems, and solve the difficulties identified by co-creating and building creative tailor-made products and processes that improve data management processes and the overall work of.
Eligibility Requirements
Be based in Africa and a citizen of an African Union member country;
Be within the age of 34 before the time of application.
Have a tertiary education degree or its equivalent.
Have the capability to gather thorough knowledge about difficult problems or circumstances, as well as the ability to effectively evaluate and analyze information to identify important concerns and propose solutions;
Have experience and technical know-how in developing innovative technology products/solutions;
Be willing to travel to participate in an induction course.
Be ready and willing to dedicate 12 months.
Fellows will be asked to take a sabbatical from their existing responsibilities and relocate to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Applicants who understand more than one AU official language (Arabic, English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, or Swahili) are particularly encouraged to apply.

All-expense Paid Trip
The Fellowship will cover all of the fellows’ travel expenses for deployment to Addis Ababa, events, learning tours, offboarding, and so on.
Capacity Building Training
Induction Workshop: Throughout the Fellowship, the fellows will receive multiple capacity-building trainings, beginning with an Induction Workshop.
Virtual Pre-deployment session: Before being deployed to AU departments/organs in Addis Ababa, fellows will attend a virtual pre-deployment session led by seasoned tech fellowship experts.
Needs-based Capacity Building Training: The fellows will get needs-based capacity building training that will be tailored to the fellows’ specific needs, as identified through a needs assessment.
The training will be conducted by professional trainers from the AfriLabs network.
The fellows will be taken on a learning tour of a top technology business with extensive experience and technical skills in assisting brilliant digital innovators in developing technologies and solutions that address specific difficulties in government and organizational administration operations.
