1). Monthly Stipends for Unemployed Youths: The Federal Government announced a ground-breaking plan to provide N25,000 monthly stipends to unemployed youngsters nationwide.
This calculated move is intended to lessen the financial burden that the jobless community bears. Wale Edun, the minister of finance, announced on February 26 after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
The government is determined to help the young people in these hard times of skyrocketing food prices, especially the jobless grads. The stipends are a component of the Social Security Unemployment Program, which will increase the economically disadvantaged people’s purchasing power.
- Consumer Credit Program: As part of its economic adjustment strategy, the government intends to introduce a consumer credit program in addition to the stipends. Under the direction of Femi Gbajabiamila, the President’s Chief of Staff, a committee, this program seeks to increase consumer credit availability and, as a result, lower the cost of goods. This action is anticipated to promote economic recovery.
- National Social Investment Programs (NSIP): The government had pledged, before the program’s suspension, to restore direct payments under the NSIP to 12 million households, or 60 million Nigerians. It is important to note that beneficiaries will be recognized by their Bank Verification Numbers (BVN) and National Identity Numbers (NIN). Money will be moved to their bank accounts or mobile money wallets.
These programs demonstrate the government’s dedication to assisting economically disadvantaged groups and promoting economic expansion. On that day, the President will celebrate one year in office, and it is expected that the programs aimed at improving the lives of young people without jobs nationwide will advance favorably.
