4IRTA FG announces ten businesses to get an N10 million grant
4IRTA: Ten firms have made the shortlist for grants under the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy’s Fourth Industrial Revolution Technology Application (4IRTA) in Agriculture program.
The Ministry claims that up to N10 million in cash would be given to the businesses whose proposals are chosen to help them further integrate 4IR technologies into their operations.
At the unveiling of the chosen projects, the Ministry’s supervising minister, Dr. Bosun Tijani, stated that the initiative supports President Bola Tinubu’s mandate to cultivate 500,000 hectares of land throughout Nigeria to increase food security.
In addition to guiding the chosen pilot farms toward scale and sustainability, the Ministry of Agriculture is supposed to offer support.

What the Minister mentioned?
The Communications Minister made the following announcement in a statement regarding the program’s nominated projects:
The ten recipients of our Fourth Industrial Revolution Technology Application (4IRTA) in Agriculture award have been shortlisted, and I’m happy to announce them.
We called for applications in November of last year from relevant, market-ready solutions that use 4IR (UAVs, IoT, AI, and Blockchain) technologies to boost agricultural productivity in Nigeria.
“We got 2,329 applications over the two weeks of the application process. These applications underwent two rounds of assessment, with assistance from leading 4IR Technology researchers and practitioners worldwide who are of Nigerian origin. The reviews used factors such as how well the suggested solution was demonstrated in the movie and how well it aligned with the 4IRTA objectives.
Congratulations to the ten projects that were chosen! We are excited to collaborate with them and the Ministry of Agriculture to help them reach their goals of sustainability and scale.

The chosen initiatives
The Minister claims that the ten newly chosen startup projects are:
Agri-Wing Project: Using drone technology to gather real-time data and offer customized recommendations, the Agri-Wing Project: An Integrated Aerial Precision (|APrecision) offers a solution for smallholder maize cultivation. To address issues including bug outbreaks, a lack of labor, and health dangers, it will also use unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to fertilize and apply crop protection goods. Stakeholder participation will be a key component of this project to ensure broad adoption and scalability in Nigeria’s agricultural industry.
Ranch.ID With sophisticated devices ensuring continuous monitoring and prompt medical intervention for optimal livestock management, LivestockPro is a farm management tool that leverages the Internet of Things (loT) technology and the National Animal Identification and Traceability system to provide real-time data on livestock activities, location, health, and vaccinations to enhance productivity and decision-making processes.

Precision Farm Management: Utilizing drones and sensors, the solution applies precision farming technology to organic farming practices by tracking crop and soil health, pH, elevation, water level, nutrient level, and crop health. By employing spray drones to apply agricultural inputs like fertilizers precisely and climate-smartly, the implementation ensures enhanced crop performance while reducing waste and raising output.
Automated loT-Based Irrigation System: Sensors are used by the Automated loT-Based Irrigation System to keep an eye on weather and soil moisture levels. After that, this data is wirelessly sent to a central hub, where a microcontroller or microprocessor analyzes it. Based on real-time data, the system automatically modifies irrigation to ensure accurate and effective water use.
Geospatial Intelligence model for enhanced prediction of crop yield and crop stress assessment: The system uses the loT isotope table and UAV radiometer radar L-band to track water tables, evaluate soil quality, and help determine when to plant and how fertile the area should be. It offers harvest forecasts, real-time status assessments, and advice on controlling weeds and pests.
AgriTrust Solutions by Ledger Labs Ltd: Ledger Labs Ltd.’s solutions: this one makes use of the blockchain to guarantee transparency and improve delivery efficiency. It also aims to address the issue of counterfeit goods on the market.
Alfor Livestock diseases and health reporting: Through the use of a mobile app with geographic capabilities to report livestock anomalies instantly, artificial intelligence to forecast disease outbreaks and vulnerable zones, and safe blockchain data storage, the project seeks to empower livestock farmers by giving them access to comprehensive information on common diseases and empowering them to make well-informed decisions about insurance, credit, and relief.
loT Climate-Smart Device: With the Penkeep Climate-smart loT gadget, environmental parameters including temperature, humidity, air quality, water level, and water temperature are managed in fish and poultry farms. Real-time adjustments are made based on data from modern sensors to guarantee ideal conditions. In addition, FS Manager, an Al advice platform, provides insights on market dynamics, illness diagnosis, climatic trends, weather forecasts, and best agricultural practices. The item is for sale.
Smart Pond (SP): The SP solution makes use of motion sensors to prevent theft, pressure sensors to measure fish development rates precisely, and automated feeders to guarantee economical and accurate feeding. Currently in the prototyping stage, the smart pond
Future Fish Farms: The Smart Fish Farm uses sensors to monitor fish health and water quality in real-time. Farmers may access the information instantly using a smartphone app, and the data is stored in a database to power a machine learning algorithm. By figuring out the best feed amounts, timings, and water parameters, as well as by combining computer vision, automating processes, and sending out proactive alerts, it maximizes fish development. We’re in the prototyping stage right now.
