Wema Bank’s MD/CEO, Moruf Oseni, announced the start of the first cohort of 270,000 participants in the virtual training program. He emphasized the program’s transformative potential for professionals, job seekers, business owners, and aspiring entrepreneurs throughout Nigeria.

Beyond just helping participants acquire new skills, this program is expected to have a positive socioeconomic knock-on effect across the country. In addition to supporting individual achievements, empowering our children also contributes to the larger national growth story, encourages job creation, fosters innovation, and opens the door for a more affluent future.

The primary objective of the FGN-ALAT Digital Skillnovation Programme is to establish a marketplace for youthful entrepreneurs by imparting digital skills that facilitate sustainable career development and introduce small-business owners to grants and funding. The successful applicants will have the option to choose between the SME route and the job route during a four-month customized learning experience.

In summary, Oseni stated that the FGN/ALAT Digital Skillnovation Programme is a comprehensive ecosystem that aims to promote innovation, growth, and success, ultimately influencing the future generation of Nigerian professionals and entrepreneurs. It goes beyond simply providing training.

According to Wema Bank, the start of the virtual training marks the beginning of a new era of digital empowerment through the FGN/ALAT Digital Skillnovation Programme. Participants will get unique access to one-on-one mentorship sessions with renowned professionals and business leaders from Nigeria and around the world after completing both virtual and in-person training.

This exceptional chance encourages networking by enabling participants to establish important connections with peers and business executives. Additionally, the curriculum provides possibilities for internship placements, giving students a chance to hone their abilities in a real-world work setting and obtain practical experience.

With an e-commerce platform, entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to present their goods and services to a larger audience. They will also be able to book display spaces at significant domestic and worldwide trade shows.

Participants, particularly entrepreneurs, can make use of numerous funding alternatives made available through the program to support the expansion and scalability of their enterprises.

Therefore, by establishing a full ecosystem that fosters skills, mentorship, networking, real-world experience, market awareness, and financial support, the FGN/ALAT Digital Skillnovation Programme goes beyond traditional training. It is about to have a significant effect on Nigeria’s young and MSMEs.

This program demonstrates Wema Bank’s dedication to supporting innovation and a future where the country is inclusive of all digital users. According to a statement from Three Bank, “As the program moves forward, it is expected to be a catalyst for positive change, driving economic growth and shaping the landscape of digital proficiency in Nigeria.”
