NNPCL Latest Update on Plan Not to Increase Fuel Prices and the cost of living problem
NNPCL Latest News: On Thursday, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited declared that the price of Premium Motor Spirit, also referred to as gasoline, would not be going up.
Nigerians were advised not to buy gasoline in a panic by the NNPCL in a statement issued by Olufemi Soneye, its chief corporate communications officer.
The statement said as follows: “NNPC Ltd. assures Nigerians that there are no plans for an upward review of the PMS price and urges them to disregard unfounded rumors.”
“As PMS is at present widely available through the nation, vehicles are advised against engaging in panic buying.”
The PUNCH reports that oil marketers threatened to cause a gasoline shortage if the NNPCL failed to supply depot owners and other dealers with the product.
They warned that if the NNPCL is unable to supply distributors with enough gasoline, the lengthy lines seen in gas stations and in some areas of Ogun State may eventually extend to other regions of the country.
Long lineups at some gas stations in Lagos State have been back since Monday, causing traffic congestion in Ikeja and other places as residents fear a possible new gasoline scarcity.
However, in an interview with one of our reporters on Tuesday morning, Soneye denied any new gasoline shortage rumors.
Soneye revealed that NNPCL was not experiencing any supply problems and that its products were still easily accessible.
Additionally, he stated that the distribution issue in a few locations had been resolved.
We are pleased to restate that there are no supply issues and that our products are still widely available.
“The recent restriction noticed in particular parts was due to a brief supply issue in Lagos, which has since been resolved,” Soneye told our correspondent.
