FG Opportunities: According to President Bola Tinubu, his administration is prepared to back public-private partnerships that give young people in Nigeria alternatives for respectable employment.
This was said by President Tinubu during his meeting with Ms. Reeta Roy, the president and CEO of the Mastercard Foundation.
The initiative’s goal is to create 10 million employment for Nigerian youth. He applauded the effort and pointed out that it is in line with his Renewed Hope Agenda for job creation and economic development.
The President was cited as stating, “We believe in what you are doing,” in a statement released by his Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale. We are committed to governing inclusively and transforming the climate and image of this nation.
Since Nigeria has the biggest economy in Africa, it needs to take its role as the continent’s leader very seriously.
“We need to instill confidence and hope in our throngs of young people. God has bestowed to Nigeria a dynamic youth population that is eager to study and capable of competing in the twenty-first-century global economy. What’s required is leadership.
“We will keep doing that across sectors of the economy to achieve sustainable growth,” the incubator is expanding and gaining recognition.
Recognizing the importance of technology as a powerful and essential weapon against corruption, President Tinubu further applauded the Mastercard Foundation’s work on digitalization.

The President assured the audience of their robust and focused collaboration with other partners.
The Mastercard Foundation’s proven ability to transform the trajectory of human capital development in Nigeria was highlighted by Dr. Muhammad Ali Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, along with its extensive influence throughout Africa.
“This organization has assets exceeding $40 billion, and they exercise caution in making sure their funds are allocated digitally and in a manner that directly benefits their intended recipients.
“This partnership will greatly boost Mr. President’s strong commitment to reforming social intervention and health service delivery in Nigeria,” said the Coordinating Minister of Social Welfare and Health.
Ms. Roy told the President that by 2030, the Foundation hopes to influence 30 million young Africans through its focus on financial inclusion and education in Africa, especially in Nigeria.
She gave an update on the Foundation’s 10 million Nigeria ambition, noting that 2.1 million of the youth trained under the “Young Africa Work Strategy” are currently employed in respectable jobs.
She added that over seven million people had participated in initiatives categorized as job enhancers, such as networking, education, skill development, and access to financial resources.
“We are still on a journey and have more work to do. Examining a completely new frontier—the healthcare industry—excites us greatly.
“We view the health industry as a vibrant economic landscape full of potential for youth, even though we have not historically been a health organization or foundation. Instead, our focus will be on workforce development.
“We are grateful that you have made youth the focal point of your multisector initiative for economic growth. We value the contributions you have made to the field of health.
“I understand that you have a lot on your plate, but I am truly appreciative and greatly inspired to realize that healthcare and education are equally important components of the path ahead. The CEO of the Mastercard Foundation stated, “We hope you find in us a partner who is steadfast, open, and ready to learn.”
