Call For Application: Apply For StarNews Business Competition ( Up to N5,000,000)

StarNews Business Competition: StarNews Mobile and the Global Black Economic Forum (GBEF) are launching a Business Competition in Lagos, Nigeria. The competition aims to provide medium enterprises (SMEs) with investment and partnership opportunities from the United States.

The competition, organized in collaboration with MTN and the United Nations Agency for International Development (USAID), will provide a forum for budding entrepreneurs to present their initiatives and achieve national attention for ten weeks, from April 8 to June 14, 2024. It will be hosted exclusively.

StarNews Mobile, which launched in 2017, provides African content creators with a unique option to monetize their work through a subscription model. The platform has over 4 million users and a dynamic community of over 120 content providers.

With a strong presence in six countries (Cameroon, Nigeria, Côte D’Ivoire, Congo, Benin, and Ghana), the platform has also formed key relationships with major telecom operators such as MTN and Orange.

StarNews Mobile has raised nearly $8 million to date, with its most recent round – a $3 million pre-Series A investment round in October 2023 led by Janngo Capital and including French football players Aurélien Tchouaméni, Jules Koundé, and Mike Maignan.

We are pleased to announce the beginning of the Starnews Business Competition, which is intended to empower and uplift SMEs in Nigeria.

This competition, sponsored by MTN, USAID, and GBEF, seeks to give financing, assistance, mentorship, and collaboration opportunities to help SMEs grow. Eligibility criteria

Eligibility Criteria

• At least 50% of the business should be owned and controlled by Nigerians.
• Businesses must be registered in Nigeria and have a valid CAC.
• ⁠Business activity should primarily take place in Africa.
• Must have a web/social presence with at least 1,000 followers.
• ⁠Have at least 2 years of experience in a formal business with consistent turnover.
• Contribute to the SDGs to positively impact Africa.
