Warning To Farmers For The New Registration By AFAN

Farmers and the general public are being warned to beware of a fraudulent scheme that is aimed at them by the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN).
A statement from Salisu Mukhtar, the assistant public relations officer for AFAN, claims that some dishonest individuals are posing as AFAN and collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) to demand N2,000 from farmers in a specific bank account.

This is untrue, according to the statement, since the FMARD has changed its name and no longer has a relationship with AFAN.

The union further stated that the fraudsters are luring gullible farmers with the names of two government programs, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS) and the National Agricultural Growth Strategy and Action Plan (NAGS-AP).

All farmers and members of the public were warned by AFAN to exercise caution and avoid doing business with anyone who purports to be able to defraud them of money to register for an input supply or to participate in FMAFS or NAGS-AP programs.

According to the statement, “The Nigerian Farmers and the general public are hereby warned that some unscrupulous people are trying to defraud farmers by requesting that they deposit N2,000 into a Wema Bank account number: 8270014608, which is purportedly owned by AFAN.”
